Only a short walk from the Sixth Form, Hayfield House offers a welcoming boarding environment with a mix of single and twin rooms and a strong sense of community.

Hayfield House is a welcoming Year 12 boarding house formed from two traditional Oxford homes, creating a close-knit and supportive community. With up to 19 students and a student-led committee, every individual is known and valued.

Students enjoy a range of activities, from dumpling making to table tennis, while celebrating diverse traditions including Lunar New Year, Christmas and Easter together.

Regular house events, social activities, and weekend trips create a vibrant, connected community, while daily routines help students grow in confidence, build friendships, and develop as individuals.

Students live in single or twin bedrooms, many with en-suite bathrooms, designed to feel safe, comfortable and homely.

The house is a short journey from Sixth Form, making daily travel quick and convenient. Oxford city centre is easily accessible in around 10–15 minutes by bus. Students can also enjoy nearby green spaces within walking distance, ideal for relaxing or spending time outdoors.

Students relax in a comfortable lounge with a TV, games and social seating. A garden adds extra space for downtime and outdoor activities. Together, these spaces create an easy, social environment where students can unwind and connect.

At d’Overbroeck’s, your child’s health and happiness will always come first. In a community that’s like a family, we embrace individuality and celebrate difference and provide a safe environment that enables every student to thrive. 

Resident House parents or Heads of House, supported by on-site staff, provide daily (24/7) care and guidance with clear routines and age-appropriate independence.

Boarders enjoy weekends with plenty of freedom, fully supervised by house staff. They can explore Oxford city centre, use local transport, or join the school’s organised trips, all while feeling safe and supported.

MEET OUR HEAD OF HOUSE

A change of career brought me to boarding and a realisation that working with children was where I truly belonged.

The boarders would probably describe me as calm, insightful and fair, and I hope that comes through in the little things, the life skills and the support I offer.

With counselling trainings and decades of experience in boarding, along with what I’ve learnt as a mother, I try to create a home where students feel safe to laugh, grow, and just be themselves. My favourite moments are always the spontaneous ones, when groups of students relax and laugh together. When I’m not in the house, you’ll most likely find me exploring the world somewhere off the beaten track.
