In a relaxed yet ambitious environment, subject specialists deliver a broad academic programme that encourages our students to be curious, think outside the box, and push the boundaries. YEARS 7, 8 AND 9

A BROAD AND BALANCED CURRICULUM

In Years 7 and 8, our students follow a broad secondary school curriculum, which includes maths, English, sciences, geography, history, computing, art and design, music, drama, sport, and religion, ethics and philosophy.

Your child will learn in mixed groups, with the exception of maths, which is set according to ability. Learning is tailored to individual styles and needs, enabling each student to work at their own pace and enjoy the right level of challenge and support.

Moving into Year 9 of secondary school at d’Overbroeck’s, our students start to specialise in certain areas. This includes choosing two languages from three – French, Spanish, and Latin – or selecting to study classical civilisation. Students also follow biology, chemistry, and physics as separate subjects.

YEARS 10 AND 11

KEY STAGE 4 CURRICULUM (IGCSES)

At Key Stage 4, our students work towards their GCSE exams. Your child will study nine GCSE subjects, which are structured into option groups that offer as much choice and flexibility as possible. Alongside compulsory maths, English language, and English literature, your child will choose either two or three science subjects (biology, chemistry, and/or physics), and select optional subjects to complete a Key Stage 4 curriculum that's tailored to their interests, skills, and ambitions.

Our students also complete the Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), which enables them to research a topic of their choice, guided by a supervisor. Learners can explore other academic disciplines, too, including politics, business, and psychology, through short courses delivered by our A-level teachers.
