MEET OUR HEAD OF HOUSE: REBECCA WEBB

I’ve been in Boarding schools all my life – born in a boys’ prep school, boarded at an all-girls school, and taught in boarding schools for most of my career. During my 30 years teaching Biology (and all sciences to GCSE), I have always enjoyed the pastoral aspects of school life. For 7 years as Head of Sixth Form, the aspects gave me the greatest sense of satisfaction were chatting to my students and organising social events. These a 2 of my important roles, as Head of House! The time I have spent teaching Food Science and LEITHS Cookery Certificate, mean we cook often in the House. You might even want to make it yourDofE Skill.

I’m a Biology Nerd; although not into Nature or gardening, but the Biochemistry of life and how we are a collection of chemicals interacting to make a whole (a bit like life in Islip!). I love words and their etymology and think learning Latin helps us so much. My cat is called Delphi; she is a bit shy, but you will see her around. She is diabetic and I inject insulin twice a day.

Life in Islip is a mixture of having fun, making friends, cooking, eating and working very hard. All students are highly motivated to do well academically and there is a real buzz about the House, especially when discussions about the daily news start off!
