A word from Jane Cockerill, Head of Years 7-11
We have been described as “a school of energy, laughter and achievement” and that’s true – but d’Overbroeck’s is also a school where people matter and where we want everyone to thrive. A successful education to us is also a happy one where you can grow and be your own person.
A co-educational, independent secondary school in Oxford
Our ethos is what makes us different from other independent schools. We work with each individual student to help them meet their potential. We believe in leading by example, in a flexible approach to learning and in the idea that students learn best when they are happy.
"One of my favourite things at Years 7-11 is the range of Music groups and activities. There are so many to get involved in and lots of opportunities to perform if you want to - it's great!"

We offer a broad curriculum from Years 7-9 to prepare students to study their GCSE courses. Once students are ready to choose their GCSE options, we base our subject blocks around the preferences of the year group. This means we are able to accommodate the first choice subject combinations for the majority of our students.
It’s not just about the academics – we celebrate and support our students’ co-curricular talents, skills and interests with an excellent programme of activities outside of the classroom. From hockey to performing in the annual whole school production or raising money for charity, there’s something for everyone.
Pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do at d’Overbroeck’s. We get to know every student and their family personally, in order to provide tailored support and to help them achieve their full potential.
Sixth Form progression
The majority of our students in Years 7-11 continue on to study their A-Levels with us in the Sixth Form. In addition to offering a wide range of 35 subjects in flexible combinations, we encourage students to get involved in our extensive academic enrichment programme. Outside of their academic pursuits, our Sixth Form students are very involved in co-curricular activities, such as sport, music and drama as well as societies such as Debating. Our Sixth Form provides students with the right level of independence to prepare them for their next steps after school.
