A word from Jane Cockerill, Head of Years 7-11
Our Years 7-11 site is dedicated to day students and covers a broad curriculum from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE. Kindness, inclusivity, and the personal success of every student are at the heart of everything we do. We work in partnership with our parent community to make this a reality, offering a strong network of support.
Through small class sizes, tailored teaching, and a wide range of opportunities, we help to realise the potential of every individual. As well as having a shared enthusiasm for learning, our vibrant and welcoming site abounds with creative energy and laughter. Our school is rich in possibility and opportunity. Students are encouraged to think deeply about topics in the curriculum, and give new passions and hobbies a try from our extensive co-curricular provision.
An education here helps students develop into active, empathetic, and confident individuals ready for the next steps in education. We have been described as ‘a school of energy, laughter and achievement’ and that’s true; our community feels like an extended family where everyone is encouraged to challenge themselves and live life to the full.
Why choose d'Overbroeck's Years 7-11?
Years 7-11 at d’Overbroeck’s is a co-educational day school, drawing students from the local area and further afield. Years 7-11 covers a broad curriculum from Year 7 through to GCSE. Students are encouraged to enjoy learning, to be curious and think outside the box. We value choice, engagement and enjoyment, and offer plenty of opportunities for students to try new things and develop their talents.
Our students all have unique strengths, and we work with each individual to find ways to celebrate these. Our academic staff work together with an extensive pastoral team to ensure every student in our care feels nurtured, and knows that we believe in them. What matters to us is that students learn best when they are happy, working with staff who are passionate about their subject, and who teach in interesting and creative ways to help students achieve academic excellence in a warm, caring environment. By focusing on what they love, our students can enjoy a fulfilling education.

With such a broad project to work on, they have lots of freedom to create something of their choice. They also have plenty of materials to explore, including regular paints and pencils, and also textured printing options like gelli printing!

🧵These days in Art Club at Years 7-11, the students have been making their own #book covers! Some even have stories to go in their books. #Art Club is an excellent way for the students to do something fun and immersive between their classes.
