A word from Jane Cockerill, Head of Years 7-11
We have been described as “a school of energy, laughter and achievement” and that’s true – but d’Overbroeck’s is also a school where people matter and where we want everyone to thrive. A successful education to us is also a happy one where you can grow and be your own person.
Independent Secondary School in Oxford
We’re often asked what makes d’Overbroeck’s different to other schools, and the answer lies in our school ethos. Central to this is our focus on the individual and our dedication to supporting all our students to be the best they can be. In Years 7-11, we place particular emphasis on pastoral care and developing each student to reach their full potential to prepare them for the next stage of their academic journey.
Latest GCSE results
We’re always really proud of what our students achieve. 2019 was our best ever year for GCSE results, showing the outstanding progress our students continue to make each year.

We offer a broad curriculum from Years 7-9 to prepare students to study their GCSE courses. Once students are ready to choose their GCSE options, we base our subject blocks around the preferences of the year group. This means we are able to accommodate the first choice subject combinations for the majority of our students.
It’s not just about the academics – we celebrate and support our students’ co-curricular talents, skills and interests with an excellent programme of activities outside of the classroom. From hockey to performing the annual whole school production or raising money for charity, there’s something for everyone.
Our pastoral care is at the heart of what we do as a school and the most important thing is that our students are happy. We ensure every student is supported in the way that will help them achieve their full potential. We get to know every student and family personally to provide tailored support during their whole time with us at d’Overbroeck’s.
Sixth Form progression
The majority of our students in Years 7-11 continue on to study their A-Levels with us in the Sixth Form. In addition to offering a wide range of 35 subjects in flexible combinations, we encourage students to get involved in our extensive academic enrichment programme. Outside of their academic pursuits, our Sixth Form students are very involved in co-curricular activities, such as sport, music and drama as well as societies such as Debating. Our Sixth Form provides students with the right level of independence to prepare them for their next step after finishing school.
