School ethos & values

We are often asked “What makes d’Overbroeck’s different from other schools?”. The answer lies in our shared values and a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere, where the individual is key and laughter is an essential part of everyday life.

d'Overbroeck's is...

Inquisitive
A strong spirit of intellectual enquiry is present throughout the school, and our committed teachers encourage academic ambition and challenge students to stretch themselves. We expect high standards of commitment and effort from our students and have a track record of strong GCSE and A-Level results. Our staff work closely with each student to make sure they are getting the advice and support they need, with a healthy balance of freedom and structure. Our school is high-achieving and academically rigorous, but not at the expense of fun, laughter and enjoyment. Students are encouraged to be curious, to explore, and to think independently.
Caring
d'Overbroeck’s is a family-like environment that nurtures excellence. Small classes enable every student to get the attention they need from our highly qualified teachers in a supportive and encouraging environment. Teaching is interactive to generate enthusiasm for the subject, sound academic skills, and effective working habits – while at the same time providing a thorough preparation for public examinations.
Dynamic
Every year, a large number of UK and international students choose to join us which contributes to the buzz and energy of the school. d'Overbroeck’s is a place that is always evolving. We are always open to feedback, change, and new ideas so that we keep pace with what is best for our students. We are committed to innovation, embracing change and new technologies that enable best-practice in our school, and our approach is to also keep the future in mind so that our students get the skills they need for their next steps.
Fun
We believe that happiness and laughter bring education to life and we strive to bring this into the classroom every day. Our students thrive on this approach and it makes for a very enjoyable learning experience for all.

With such a broad project to work on, they have lots of freedom to create something of their choice. They also have plenty of materials to explore, including regular paints and pencils, and also textured printing options like gelli printing!

🧵These days in Art Club at Years 7-11, the students have been making their own #book covers! Some even have stories to go in their books. #Art Club is an excellent way for the students to do something fun and immersive between their classes.
