Jane Nimmo-Smith is Head of Classics at d’Overbroeck’s, teaching at 7-11 and the Sixth Form: GCSE and A-Level Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation. She delivers our Classics Plus programme at the Sixth Form and supervises several Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) students. Jane also provides support for Oxford and Cambridge University applicants who are applying to study Classical degree subjects. She has organised a wide range of trips at home and abroad: Rome, Pompeii, Sicily, Hadrian’s Wall, the Museum of London, British Museum to name a few! Trips are one of the key ways of engaging students and enhancing their learning a great way of taking teaching outside the classroom.
Jane studied Classics at Oxford University, taking Ancient History and Philosophy in her finals and achieving a BA (Hons). She has been a teacher for over 30 years in the independent sector, the majority of it working for d’Overbroeck’s. She finds time to spend time outdoors, walking and gardening mostly.
