Huge congratulations to James of Year 9 who won the Oxford Town and Gown Junior event!
The now prestigious 3-kilometre event has become very popular among the young people of Oxfordshire and even beyond.
This is a rich reward for a student who has shown tremendous commitment to Running at d’Overbroeck’s since he joined the school.
James finished in third place last year and so was determined to win this time around! He has continued to improve as a long distance runner and this result shows his calibre and potential in the sport. He is an inspiration to other runners at d’Overbroeck’s. Well done, James!
Meanwhile, in the 10k adult event, three Sixth Form students and two teachers were competing. Well done to Ethan, Lucy and Junmin who did really well to complete the Oxford City Centre course in impressive times. The three students haven’t got much experience of running this sort of distance between them, so it was a superb effort all round.
Congratulations to staff member Helen Stacey who equalled her previous best time at the event! Finally, Graham Hope achieved his second best ever time at the 10-kilometre distance and finished in 16th place overall out of a field of approximately 4000 runners.
