This term, at the beginning of December 2017, students of Year 11 had a Study Party (with pop-corn!) to help build their Independent Learning Skills.
Students spent the afternoon finding out all about the summer exams – how many papers in each subject, which questions they have to do and what topics go where.
This was a bit of an eye-opener for some, as the sessions were meant to help students feel better prepared for the months ahead.
We also thought about the immediate future and found out about ways to revise including digital mind maps, using Google calendars and apps.
We thought about what prevents us from concentrating well and even how binaural beats and the colour green improve focus!
Everyone went away with a new idea to try.
We will be doing more work on exams and revision in PD lessons with Year 11 and provide them with a special revision party bag to help keep them going.
Many thanks to all of the students for working so hard.
