d’Overbroeck’s 44 – 29 Sibford School
The U16 rugby team started their match with Sibford School with great gusto, and through phases of very good passing and attacking running, they were able to score the first try of the match with Alex touching down. Sibford replied with a try of their own, and the game was closely fought until Marin burst through the defence to score under the posts. This heralded an excellent phase of the game where d’Overbroeck’s were able to score four more tries, by Matthew, Simon, and two from Damien. Matthew extended the lead with two conversions before Sibford scored the final try of the half, giving a half time score of d’Overbroeck’s 34 – 10 Sibford.
The second half told a different story with Sibford dominating much of the play and scoring three more tries. The score at this point was d’Overbroeck’s 34 – 29 Sibford. The d’Overbroeck’s team showed excellent fighting spirit and scored two more tries, from Miki and Simon. The final score of a very competitive and enjoyable match was d’Overbroeck’s 44 – 29 Sibford.
Thank you to Sibford School for hosting the game, and well done to all the players.
Kingham Hill School 7-2 d’Overbroeck’s
The under 13 hockey team took part in their second hockey fixture of the year on Tuesday, away at Kingham Hill School. The team was made up of 9 Year 7 and 8 girls with Cassidy Walton captaining the side.
We had beautiful weather for our long drive into the countryside. d’Overbroeck’s got off to a great start with Lola, Millie P and Cassidy putting pressure on Kingham Hill up in attack. Poppy, Libby and Jemma were fantastic in defence with Minnie bringing the ball up and being an all-round brilliant mid fielder. Going a few goals down in the first half left spirits quite low, but after a quick team talk they came out fighting with their ‘mean’ faces on! The second half proved to be a totally different game with an amazing goal scored by Minnie in the first few minutes. Ella and Olivia came on to support defence and pushed the ball back up to Millie, Minnie and Lola who fiercely attacked and were able to secure one more goal before the full time whistle. Overall a brilliant performance by the team who showed fantastic resilience, determination and team work!
