Head of Media

Mark Piesing has been Head of Department for ten years, and has taught and been an examiner for the sister subject of Communication & Culture for 15 years at d’Overbroeck’s. Mark can also bring to Media Studies a wealth of experience as a practicing journalist writing on culture, technology and the intersection of the two for the likes of The Economist, BBC Future, the award winning i paper, and Publishing Perspectives. Mark’s interests are in the way pre-existing narratives used by journalists shape the reporting and our perception of stories whether the rebellion in Syria or Britain’s economic performance.
