Teacher of Film Studies
Emma read English at Oxford and went on to write a PhD on comic books at UCL, looking at how ideas about identity are represented in alternative comics. She has taught Film Studies at d’Overbroeck’s since 2009. She loves talking about visual narrative of all kinds, and believes that the study of film not only refines academic skills like essay writing, but helps students to become well-rounded, critical, analytical thinkers. What we really want from students, she says, is enthusiasm for film – we can teach everything else.
