Are athletes getting faster?
After A levels, Adam plans to continue his studies at a university with a strong sports science ethos and a strong record in athletics success, such as Loughborough. Prior to that, he’s already preparing for a Gap Year which would be split between a period of extensive training, racing and travelling.
Adam started running with Abingdon Athletics club when he was 10 years old and has since won several County titles (U15’s 1,500m & 3,000m and U17’s 1,500m). In January 2019 he won the U17 Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships earning another Oxfordshire vest. He regularly represents Oxfordshire in the Inter-Counties for both cross country and track events and came first in the Oxon City Schools Cross Country competition in November 2018.
In addition to athletics Adam also enjoys team sports, playing cricket for Charlbury CC youth and adult teams. He helps with youth training at Charlbury and has started his cricket coaching qualifications.
I have found the step up from GCSE to A level a challenge, but with the help of my DOS and the PE Department at d’Overbroeck’s a timetable has been created to help me manage my study time around my athletics training. The friendly atmosphere and the mutual respect between pupils and teachers at d’Overbroeck’s makes the school a great place to study for my A levels.”
