After the geography department visited Morocco with students during February’s half-term vacation, the charity group was formed.
It was in response to being given a guided tour of a girl’s boarding school in the lowland areas, that allows secondary aged girls to carry on their education beyond their primary school experience in the mountains.
‘Educate a girl and change the life of the community’ is a known way to help and support these remote mountainous villages and their inhabitants in the Atlas Mountains.
The charity group is made up of a number of enthusiastic Lower Sixth students who have given much time to help plan and lead a couple of bake sales, smoothie sales and a change chain. There are many discussions and thoughts for the academic year 2018-2019, such as a 70s disco night for Sixth Form students.
We have raised a grand total of £700 so far for Education for All (Morocco) – the target was £840 which would cover a year’s boarding for one student so we are well on our way.
The students in the photos are Sophie, Ellen B, Ellen M, Ella, Louis, Zeeshanali, Rishi, Lottie and Kate Palmer (Head of Geography/ Lower Sixth).
Congratulations to such a dedicated group!
