d’Overbroeck’s led the game at half-time with some good ball rotation. However, OLA made tactical changes and better decisions throughout the last two periods to take the game away. It was evident that the boys hadn’t played much together yet and although there was some good individual play, lots of work is needed on positioning, leadership and team defence.
Player of the Match: Caspar Dale, for his tireless effort throughout.
It was the first game of the season for the d’Overbroecks netball girls. Disappointingly the girls did not win but the effort and skill on the court did not match the final score.
Defending Cherwell was tough but our defenders did well. There was some excellent defending by Marianne Bysouth WD who worked her socks off throughout the game. Miriam Tillmann-Morris GK came out of her shell in the second half and made lots of interceptions and Mina Ayad GD stayed tight to her player forcing errors. Cherwell shooters played a fast game around the shooting circle making our girls work hard and they did not miss a shot.
There was some great netball played by the girls bringing the ball down the court fast and accurately but sometimes they struggled to get it in the goal circle. However, when they did there were some excellent shots by Issie Watt GA and Sophie Melville GS, and some great support on the edge of the circle by Maise Coolman C and Lottie Basil WA.
Even though the girls did not win they were still smiling at the end and in great spirits!
