d’Overbroeck’s Sixth Form scholarships are awarded to students who show outstanding achievement and potential. They should also be willing to make a significant contribution to the life of the school and its student community.
The value of a Sixth Form scholarship or exhibition award will vary and is always at the discretion of the school, up to a maximum of 40% of tuition fees. Scholarships and exhibitions can occasionally be supplemented with a means-tested bursary. We offer Academic, Science, Art, Music & Drama scholarships.
All scholarships are awarded on the strength of a special written examination, as well as an interview, a personal statement, a reference from your current school, predicted GCSE grades and any other appropriate supporting material. A level results 2017
Our students have achieved excellent A level results this year with 62% of all grades at A*/A. Of these, 24% were A*. 46% of our students achieved 3 or more A* or A grades and out of 131 students, 8 achieved all A*s in their subjects
333: Brand new, state of the art teaching & boarding facilities
We are a school that thrives on the ideas and interests of our students and encourages them to think for themselves. “Well made heads not full ones” (Michel de Montaigne) is our aim or perhaps this should be amended to, “well made and happy heads” because we believe very strongly that laughter and happiness is a vital part of education. That’s why we value the ideas of each student and why students and staff are all on first name terms. The education of our students is a collaborative approach and to enable this we don’t try to force thinking or personalities into boxes.
Boarding at d’Overbroeck’s
Most of our boarders in the Lower Sixth live in Islip House. This is our brand new boarding house which provides a modern, welcoming and comfortable place for our students to live in – literally across the road from 333, our Sixth Form teaching site.
Our other main boarding house is Hayfield House; this is just a few minutes away from the 333. Students at Islip House live in twin rooms with en-suite facilities. Students at Hayfield House have single rooms but shared bathroom facilities.
A level success for our recent leavers
We were delighted with the tremendous achievements of our students. This was a particularly challenging year for students with the move to linear and new content and forms of assessment but their results are our best ever. Nearly half achieved three grade A or A* in their A levels. Click here for more on our results.
Exceptional value added
In measures of student progress we are one of the top 2% of Sixth Forms in England. As well as absolute grades, the journey of each student is also very important to us.
