“We are delighted with the tremendous achievements of our students. This was a particularly challenging year for students with the move to linear and new content and forms of assessment but their results are our best ever. Nearly half achieved three grade A or A* in their A levels. Well done to them and to everyone for their hard work making this happen. Having just moved into our wonderful new sixth form facilities this is an excellent start to the next stage of d’Overbroeck’s development.”

High ranking in the national league tables 2017

Exceptional value added
In measures of student progress we are one of the top 2% of Sixth Forms in England. As well as absolute grades, the journey of each student is also very important to us. Sometimes the student achieving a grade A can be judged an even greater achievement than the student who achieved an A*. At d’Overbroeck’s we are keen measure the progress which our students make as well as their final grades. We help all students achieve as much as they can academically. Outstanding students who join us for Sixth Form will continue to flourish; we provide an environment which enables students to develop a passion for their subjects and an academic curiosity, as well as the key skills necessary for success. Our students enjoy the academic challenges our teaching provides for them. Our approach also helps students who have a solid achievement at GCSE to flourish in the Sixth Form. In part this is because our curriculum means that they can choose the subjects that they really enjoy and that match their specific strengths but it is also helped by interactive and motivating teaching as well as careful support and guidance at every stage.
Our students’ performance compared with students with similar starting points is truly exceptional. We measure the academic journey of each student using analysis provided by the University of Durham. Their Centre for Excellence and Monitoring allows us to compare an individual’s performance at A-level against similar students in England, based on their GCSE results and tells us that we are an extremely high achieving school. The performance of our students who took their exams in summer 2017 meant we were in the top 2% of English schools in terms of our students’ achievements.
In practice, this means that students joining d’Overbroeck’s can expect not only a broad, interesting, and enjoyable education- something we value greatly-but also one which allows them to maximise their performance at examination.
