The Oxford Half Marathon has grown in size and popularity since it’s inauguration in 2011. This year 12,000 participants signed up, including four d’Overbroeck’s staff members. The course now runs right through the centre of town and includes a section going past the International School, the Sixth Form and some of our boarding accommodation.
The weather conditions were near perfect and the support from the crowds was incredible all the way! Some of our students and staff were involved in volunteering roles to make sure the event ran smoothly. Well done to Tiago Blattmann, Chris Bright, Amy Coe and Graham Hope who all completed the 13.1 mile course.
This was Tiago’s first ever half marathon and he finished in under 2 hours, which was a great achievement. Chris finished in an impressive time of 1 hour 48 minutes. Graham’s time was 1 hour 16 minutes, finishing in 38th place, running for Kidlington Running Club. Well done to Amy who managed to complete the event even though she was recovering from a hockey injury!
