One of our students, Luke Biddle, took part in last weekend’s Oxford Half marathon. We asked Luke how he got on and what his motivation was for competing in the event.
“I decided to do the half marathon as I’ve always been passionate about running and enjoy the sport. I signed up to motivate myself to do more running in my free time and weekends and to set myself a target. I used to do 10 mile runs at my old school which I also enjoyed and competed in the Tough Mudder last summer, but this was my first Half Marathon.
I crossed the finish line in 1:44:39 which was a little bit slower than I thought, but having completed only one run in the month before the event, I’m very happy I completed it and finished in that time. Because of that however, I think I pulled the majority of muscles in my legs and spent the next couple days struggling to walk around school, but I have a great sense of achievement for having completed it and am happy I ran.”
