Netball: Year 8/9 vs Kings School (21-10)
The year 8 and 9 girls had a fantastic afternoon playing netball at Kings School last Wednesday.
The teams gelled really quickly, showing good communication and movement around the court. Brilliant on-target passes saw d’Overbroeck’s taking control of both games and dominating the play with lots of turn overs and strong defensive tactics from Katie and Ciara. Amazing shooting from Cassidy and Liv quickly ramped up the goals, with some cross court passes from Emily and with Millie P and Lottie helping to feed the ball into the circle the attacking play was clearly not to be messed with!
Overall a great game with lots of teamwork and determination showed by all players, Millie P was awarded POM.
Year 9 vs Kings School (28-1)
The year 9 girls completely dominated the game from the first centre pass. All the girls worked really well together, quickly organising some strong attacking set plays. Romily and Aydan showed off their shooting skills by popping lots of balls in all over the shooting circle, with some great movement around the circle helped by Alex and Agnes.
Ksenia, Omri and Daisy were a wall of defence that only let one goal through for the whole game. The whole team communicated very well, always supporting each other with a brilliant positive attitude throughout, well done girls!
Year 7 and 8 vs OLA
A Year 7 and 8 netball fixture took place on Tuesday against Our Lady’s Abingdon. Both games were low scoring games due to the great defensive play and pressure that was applied down court, d’Overbroeck’s came away with a loss and a win! All the girls worked really hard in both teams and played well as a team. There was lots of communication and lots of encouragement for each other which was great to see. Well done girls!

Girls PE Lessons
We have started a new scheme of work with the Year 9 and 10 girls in their afternoon lesson time. This has been designed in order to encourage a love of being active and opening up their minds to different opportunities and options they have for taking part in exercise and having fun.
We started the scheme with a ‘Capture the flag’ competition which happened to take place under a massive rain cloud! Despite the wet and mud all the girls got into it and really impressed us with their positivity and attitude. They spent the lesson working together in a team, communicating tactics and strategies to succeed. It was a very close game but the Year 10 girls (helped along by a few year 9s) finished triumphantly 2-1, with a rainbow appearing to help the celebrations!
All lessons this term will be outside and we will be including orienteering and bootcamp fitness type activities, fun and games.
