We had a wonderful start to the new academic year 2018-2019 with many new students joining our returning students, proving once again that d’Overbroeck’s remains an extraordinarily popular choice for UK and international families.
Apart from the fantastic group of students joining us this year, this new academic year brings a new Head of the International School – Ted McGrath.
Ted has worked exclusively in international education both in the UK and overseas since 1997. She is passionate about international education and community service projects and was awarded the ECIS Adult Award for the promotion of international education.
She has taught and held senior leadership posts at leading international schools in Bangkok, Phuket and Vietnam for 12 years and was the founding head of EF Academy, Oxford for 6 years where she grew the school from an initial 38 to well over 200 students.
Ted has undertaken teacher training and school review and authorisations for the IB Organisation throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, India, China, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. She has also travelled extensively to markets around the world recruiting students.
In addition to Ted joining us, we have also renamed d’Ovebroeck’s International Section the “d’Overbroeck’s International School”.
The international part of d’Overbroeck’s started with a relatively small number of students and only offered courses to older one year IGCSE students. A few years later, we have grown to nearly 100 students and offer two year IGCSE courses and UK Study Abroad courses for younger students as well as programmes for older students. “School” seems a much more appropriate name to describe the busy, full curriculum and boarding environment these students enjoy.
We are no longer just a section of d’Overbroeck’s, we are proud to be a ‘School.’
