Congratulations to Jonah in Year 10, who recently achieved a Gold certificate in the Senior Maths Challenge for the fourth consecutive year. The SMC is a national competition for Sixth Form students, consisting of 25 multiple-choice Maths problems. One of the questions Jonah tackled successfully is shown below.
This year, Jonah’s score was also strong enough to qualify for the British Maths Olympiad. This places him among the top 1,000 school-age mathematicians nationally, an incredible achievement! The BMO takes the form of a 3.5-hour written exam, in which participants tackle six fiendish questions like the one below. We wish Jonah the best of luck for this new challenge next Friday.
