If you’re interested in finding out more about Admissions to d’Overbroeck’s then we’d love to hear from you. We are a co-educational independent school with over 650 students from age 11 through to the Sixth Form. Please see below for contact details for each part of the school.
We are a selective school but we don’t only assess students on their academic ability: as long as applicants meet the minimum academic entrance requirements that are relevant to their year of entry, we are happy to consider students across a relatively wide range of abilities. Our main aim is to enable all of our students no matter what their age or ability to reach their full potential both academically and personally.
In addition to academic ability and motivation, we also take into consideration aptitude in areas such as art, sport, music or drama when considering applications. We offer a range of Sixth Form scholarships to recognise outstanding ability in a range of areas.
Entry points into d’Overbroeck’s
Our main entry points are:
- at 11+ into Year 7
- at 13+ into Year 9
- at 16+ into the Sixth Form
- at 14+ onto the two-year IGCSE programme or 4/5 term IGCSE
- at 15+ into the one-year IGCSE programme.
- at 13+ onto the Pre-IGCSE
Subject to places being available, we are happy to consider applications on behalf of pupils who may wish to join us at a different point, directly into Year 8 or Year 10 for instance.
To give you an idea of scale, we have a two-form entry into Year 7 (that is a maximum of 30 students in total); we then add a third form in Year 9, mainly for students joining us from prep schools.
In the Sixth Form, and in addition to our own Year 11s going through, we have a large entry directly into the Lower Sixth each year. This makes us a ‘mushroom-shaped’ school – in the sense that we get bigger as we move up the age range.
