d’Overbroeck’s is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Cuff as the new Principal of the school. Jonathan has been Acting Principal since January 2019 and in that time has led the school with considerable success. In light of this, and following extensive consultation with the Board of Directors and with senior staff at the school it was unanimously agreed that Jonathan is the right person to lead the school into the next phase of its journey. He has therefore been formally appointed Principal at d’Overbroeck’s with effect from the 1st August 2019.
Jonathan completed his original degree and teaching qualification at Brunel University before going on to achieve an MSc in Educational Leadership from the University of Leicester in 2012. He has a range of different experiences to bring to the role, having had 19 years’ experience working in leading schools in the independent sector as a Head of Department, Housemaster, Deputy Head Pastoral and, of course , Senior Deputy Principal with us at d’Overbroeck’s. Jonathan has also worked for the Independent Schools Inspectorate for six years as a Boarding Inspector and will combine this with working for AEGIS next year as an Inspector of Guardianships for students.
He says “ I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead such a unique and successful school forward into the next decade. As one of our parents said at our End of Year Celebration at the Sheldonian, d’Overbroeck’s is based on respect- respect for the individual and respect for differences in views. Respecting and supporting every student encourages them to do their best and to be themselves. I am proud to be leading a school that creates such an extraordinary community of people working together, helping individuals be confident in their ideas and talents. d’Overbroeck’s has established itself as a leading school in a relatively short time in the world of independent schools and we continue to move forward, developing all aspects of our provision such as our curriculum, our extra curricular activities, our sport and our facilities. This is why we are a school of first choice for more and more families. We hope that we do all of this with good humour and a focus on student learning, development and happiness.”
