"Hi. My name is Hannah. I come
from Switzerland
and I came on the d’Overbroeck’s summer course for 2 weeks to improve my
writing and speaking ability.
I chose the d’Overbroeck’s
Programme because I wanted a summer course that lasted for 2 weeks. I felt
really safe coming on the course because I had been so well informed about it
from the beginning. Helen, the course director had spoken to my mum in French
on the phone. I also wanted a course that focused upon improving my writing
skills.
I have some fantastic memories
from the summer course - mostly because there were so many different
activities. The classes were fun and there was a mix and whole range of
activities from academic tasks, taken from the IELTs course, to more discussion
based activities included in the lessons. I liked the group activities in
class, the simulations and role play. The teaching was really good.
The trips were great because we
had a lot of choice. We could do a wide range of sports and all the activities
were very varied too. The facilities were good and we could do the sports
without any problems. The city of Oxford
is beautiful and there are lots of activities to do around this area. I also
learnt a lot about the UK,
the culture and traditions. The accommodation and rooms were good too.
One of the best things about the
course was the wide mix of nationalities. It was very interesting and we could
find out a lot about other cultures as well as UK culture. There was the chance to
meet so many international people. We were able to speak English all the time
and as a result I think you can really improve your English skills on this
course.
I remember all the new things I
learnt and the overall positive attitude of the staff and the students on the
course and I went home really happy about what I’d learnt."
