Stage of Education: Upper Sixth Subjects: Chemistry, Computing, Economics & Maths A level Results 4 grade As at AS Previous School: d’Overbroeck’s College, Years 9-11 Extra-curricular: Computing, PC building, programming Future Plans: Computing at Cambridge University Why d'Overbroeck's? “The informal atmosphere places more responsibility on you, which is a good training, and there is lots of back-up and support from your Director of Studies and the teachers. Because you have such a good relationship with teachers, you can go to them with any problems with work that you might have and they will always set aside time to help you with it.” The Students “I don’t think that there is a typical d’Overbroeck’s student because everyone is so different here. It really lets you mix with a whole range of different people; you can’t stereotype them.” Subjects “I’m studying Chemistry, Computing, Maths and Economics at A2. I’m hoping to study Computer Science at Bristol or Cambridge university. At the moment I’m working on a programme that takes images from MRI scanners and builds them into a 3D model. I am working with brain scans and so far I have made it possible to view the brain, then turn it around and examine it from different angles. Studying computing in the Sixth Form has been really good, especially the teaching, which is amazing. Alan Milosevic (Head of Computing and ICT) has got years of experience in industry so he knows all the good practices.” Since being interviewed Andy has already received an offer Cambridge University.
