Pastoral

All of our students are closely supported throughout their time at the College; whatever the issue - work, university, accommodation or personal - we are there to help. The relationship between students and staff at the College is quite exceptional and is often commented on by students and parents. Students are treated as individuals and their views are always respected.

We strongly believe that education should be an enjoyable process. At the same time we recognise that greater independence can be difficult at times and that students may need support along the way.

Every student at d'Overbroeck's has a Director of Studies who is their personal tutor. Directors of Studies are usually teachers and Heads of Department and, in many cases students will be taught by their own Director of Studies.

Our Director of Studies are responsible for:

  1. supervising a student's academic progress and ensuring their time with us is as happy and productive as possible.
  2. keeping in regular contact with subject teachers and parents. Students go through their reports with their Director of Studies before they are sent off to their parents.
  3. monitoring attendance and homework; if there are issues they will discuss them with the student and keep their parents fully informed.
  4. helping with all aspects of a student's university application on a one to one basis.

Directors of Studies are the main point of contact for information and advice, but there are always people to ask if needed.

" The College has everything we wish for and has provided an excellent bridge towards independence in higher education. Our son has blossomed into a confident outgoing young man and has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the College and leaves having made long term friendships with both students and staff. He has achieved outstanding academic success and happiness "
