**Why d’Overbroeck’s?** “I joined d’Overbroeck’s in Year 9. I came partly because of my brother…He was looking for a new Sixth Form and he came here, so I decided that I would come here too!”

Subjects “My favourite subject is Economics. It is great because Simon Harrison (Head of Economics) is such a fantastic teacher. I have always enjoyed his lessons and the subject is really interesting. With Economics you can look at the front page of the newspaper and understand what is going on in the world.”

Teaching “The teaching is very focused on the individual because the smaller classes allow you to get extra attention. It is much easier to put right a problem if you’ve got something wrong because if there are only 8 of you in a class so the teachers can talk to everyone in a lesson.”

Applying to University “The help with the UCAS application was really good. I wanted to apply to Cambridge and we had extra meetings and talks by admissions tutors. We also got help with how to write a good personal statement. This is one of the key things in actually getting you noticed to even get to an interview. And we were set extra work and given interview practice - everything you need in order to make your chance of getting a place as high as possible. It was definitely good.”

Ally is now on her gap year before starting at Clare College, Cambridge University to read Economics. This year we had 11 students who were offered places at Oxford or Cambridge University. For students wishing to study at Oxford or Cambridge we have a specialist programme that begins in the First Year Sixth.
