ISI Inspection Report

In common with all independent schools that are affiliated to the Independent Schools Council (ISC), we are subject to a six-yearly cycle of inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Our most recent inspection took place in October 2007. To see the full text of our inspection report, you can download it on the right hand side.

Just a few words by way of an introduction before you read the report itself:

ISI reports always follow a standard structure; and all judgements of quality are graded using a four-point scale which consists of the following terms:

·     outstanding

·     good

·     satisfactory

·     unsatisfactory

I am pleased to say that only the top half of the scale was needed in our case: we were found to be either ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ in every one of the areas scrutinised.

As you read through the report, you will find that there are numerous complimentary judgments about the quality of teaching and learning, about students’ academic achievement, about the quality of pastoral care, boarding, extra-curricular provision and, more generally, about the quality of the educational experience we provide for our students.

However, what is most touching, to my mind, is the warmth and enthusiasm with which the report speaks of our students, and of the strong inter-personal relationships that inspectors witnessed throughout - both between students and staff and also within the student body.

I hope that you will find the time to read the report in full; and please don’t hesitate to contact me by telephone or by email if you would like to discuss any of its contents.
