1988-1990 After d’Overbroeck’s I went to Goldsmiths College in London to study a BA in English Literature. I worked as a PA for a year, and then decided to study Acupuncture. I wanted to do work that combined my interest in people with a creative approach to improving health. I went on a taster weekend in Leamington Spa before committing myself to a course. I really enjoyed it and studied for three years at the College of Traditional Acupuncture. While I was training I also worked in several different part time jobs that could be fitted around my course. This enabled me to develop my finance and administrative skills. Once qualified, I started doing acupuncture in a clinic in Oxford but found there were so many practitioners it was difficult to build up a practice. I moved to Brighton and worked in a multidisciplinary practice in Worthing, where I was able to gain lots of experience doing acupuncture. I also kept up the office work as a book-keeper/administrator in a clothes designer’s company. After the birth of my daughter, I moved back to Oxford in 2002 where I joined Pegasus Theatre as a Finance Officer. The theatre is a charitable trust specializing in youth arts, community theatre and small-scale professional productions. My job at Pegasus Theatre fits in very well with my life at the moment, although I would like to broaden my role in the future to include more work with people. I remember teachers at d’Overbroeck’s being very supportive and encouraging without prejudice. They made a real effort to relate to students in a positive way. |
