1996-97 After d’Overbroeck’s, I studied Business Studies at University in Ravensburg (Germany) from 1997-2000. In 2000 I founded ‘Fairconcept’ together with two other partners. Fairconcept deals with all aspects of attendance at trade shows, i.e. stand design and construction, personnel training, design and printing of material etc. We are a bit like an advertising agency, but focusing on trade events. I take charge of the business side of things. We are a team of 9 people, and celebrated our 5th anniversary in October last year. The economic situation in Germany at the moment makes success harder so I am pleased with what we have achieved. My strongest memory of d’Overbroeck’s is the way the teachers managed to get the pupils to be interested in what they were studying… not just interested in terms of their exams, but interested in the subjects beyond the exams. This is a great achievement which has long lasting effects and shows the outstanding quality of the College and the teachers. Sometimes I wish that I had spent all my school time at d’Overbroeck’s. |
