Why choose d'Overbroeck's Sixth Form?

It's a place where you can thrive

Benefit from an environment that suits you and your needs

Because we're a dedicated Sixth Form – meaning that there are no younger pupils, only A level students – teaching is precisely attuned to your needs. We're not interested in enforcing uniforms, or being addressed as 'sir' and 'miss'; we're focusing on your ideas, your potential.

All schools must adopt an approach and foster an environment appropriate for the whole range of their students. Because we concentrate solely on Sixth Form, you'll find yourself in an environment that caters specifically for people like you.

‘Belief: the place simply oozes it.’

Get the best out of yourself

Teaching, approach, environment – everything is tailored to helping you realise your potential. At d'Overbroeck's, you'll explore ideas, develop new ways of thinking, expand your experience.

Education is a two-way process. As often as not, we'll be the ones doing the listening. Research has proven, time and again, that people learn most effectively from doing, not just listening; from creating, not just copying.

Your lessons will stimulate and engage

Choose exactly the subjects you want

Where else could you study A level Philosophy, History of Art, Psychology, Politics, Communication Studies, Japanese, Film Studies, Economics, Photography, Ancient Greek, Music Technology, Sociology...? We offer almost 40 A level subjects, in practically any combination you'd care to name.

This means that you'll pour your energies into your very best subject areas. It also means that you can precisely tailor your choices to your plans and ambitions.

... And succeed

Last year's Upper Sixth achieved 52% A grades in their exams. 11 students have received offers from Oxbridge, this year; others are heading off to LIPA, Imperial College London, Central St Martin's, Loughborough...

That said, we firmly believe that success isn't just about excellent results; it's also about confidence, happiness, roundedness. About discovering the thrill of singing a solo in front of an audience of hundreds in the College musical; the satisfaction of helping to publish a student magazine; the exhilaration of scoring the winning goal in a netball match.

Obviously, excellent exam results and university entrance are goals we bear firmly in mind; but a superb education is one that not only leaves you furnished with qualifications, but – more importantly – gives you a genuine enthusiasm for and confidence in your skills, your activities and your subjects – and a hunger to do more.
