Students
The Sixth Form consists of around 240 students, studying A levels chosen from an array of nearly 40 subjects.
Some come from our own Year 11 or our International Study Centre, but the vast majority are new to d'Overbroeck's – whether coming from UK schools – state and independent – or overseas. Around half of our students are boarders.
This means everyone is settling into the Sixth Form environment at the same time – so making friends is easy. Everybody is new together. As a result, we find that students form enduring bonds with one another, and year groups are cohesive.
Pastoral support
The relationship between staff and students is exceptional, and often commented on by students and their parents.
Every student has a personal tutor, or Director of Studies. Yours will keep track of your academic progress, whilst making sure your time here is happy and productive.
You'll have regular one-to-one meetings with your Director of Studies throughout your time here, and with a student:teacher ratio of 6:1, you'll also receive plenty of support in all your classes.
Teachers
At d'Overbroeck's, you'll be taught by dedicated, experienced, enthusiastic staff. Here's what a few of them have been up to recently...
Head of Chemistry Max Parsonage has been collaborating with the European Space Agency in the design of educational software.
One of our Art teachers, Sharon Wyper, has held an exhibition of her work, as part of her residency at the Diamond Synchrotron particle accelerator facility in Harwell.
Meanwhile, Andrew Gillespie (Head of Business Studies) recently published AQA Business Studies for AS.
