Mathematics

The Mathematics course is designed to provide a sound platform for GCSE success, and has as its primary aim the development and refinement of problem-solving skills. We see hands-on practice as fundamental, and the course is heavily weighted towards time spent working through examination questions with teacher assistance. The course is not suitable for those who will be taking foundation level.

The course is broken down into the four main sections of Shape and Space, Number, Algebra, and Handling Data. Each session comprises straightforward explanations of the key ideas for each topic with detailed worked examples, followed by comprehensive exercises to develop and reinforce concepts and techniques.

Students will be encouraged to see the course as a vital part of a process of revision which must continue
right up to the exams. The mock examination will highlight topics that require further work, and allow us to give advice on good examination technique and revision strategy.
