Religous Studies AS / A2 |
||
The aim of the course at both AS and A Level is to help students consolidate their knowledge and understanding and use it to best effect for examination success. Key skills (appropriate to each examination unit) common to all examination boards and papers will be taught. For each topic area, there will be: Coverage of the central issues and problems. Opportunity to practise writing exam questions (appropriate to each board). Model answers. Detailed feedback on students’ performance in exam tasks. Guidance will also be given on effective revision leading up to the exams. What will you achieve? A short course such as this cannot hope to impart large quantities of new information. However, we aim to cover central themes and issues relevant to the units being studied, focussing on ensuring comprehension of ideas and understanding of key arguments and areas of controversy. Considerable emphasis will be placed on practising exam questions, analysing technique and providing clear, focussed advice on how to improve performance. Tuition is closely geared to the specific needs of individual students. You should emerge with a clear idea of what is necessary for exam success, keys to achieving it and a clear idea of what needs to be done before the summer to enable you to maximise your chances in the exams. Options available All examination board specifications are offered, with the following option areas available: Philosophy of religion (all topics) Ethics (all topics) New Testament (all topics) Old Testament (some options available – please submit details) AQA AS Core Unit One A2 Synoptic papers |
