Modern Languages (French & German) AS / A2

Good grammar is an essential element in achieving high grades in AS/A2 language exams. Many students at this level have gaps in their knowledge of the key points of grammar, which hinders their performance in writing and speaking.

The main objective of this course is to revise these points, practise them and apply them in short pieces of writing (e.g. letters). We also revise standard AS/A2 vocabulary through reading comprehension exercises.

Our staff are native speakers, but sessions are managed mostly in English. Students are given the opportunity

to present and briefly discuss their oral topic in French/German. Although there may be some time to deal with individual questions, the course is not designed for students who wish to concentrate on their coursework/literature/written topics.

By end of the course, you should already feel more confident about your handling of grammar, which will enable you to improve your accuracy and style in the written and spoken language.

The course will also give you extra practice in reading comprehension and writing, and it constitutes an excellent starting point - and provides useful notes - for pre-exam revision.
