Pastoral care

The Personal Development Programme

Our Personal Development Programme is the structure that underpins much of our pastoral care here at Leckford. Students receive classes in Personal Development each week.

What is Personal Development?

Personal Development – or 'PD' – is a structured programme that helps pupils learn about themselves as individuals and members of their communities.

PD balances out the academic focus of students' classes by developing real-world skills and knowledge (an understanding of financial and health issues, for instance), alongside social, cultural and personal awareness.

As part of our Personal Development programme, we follow two ASDAN courses: the Key Steps Award in Years 7 and 8, and the Certificate of Personal Development (CoPE) in Years 10 and 11. CoPE is a qualification available at 3 levels, leading to GCSE points.
