Pastoral care

The aims of our pastoral programme

  • Help students develop self-esteem, confidence, independence and responsibility
  • Promote an atmosphere of trust and openness, in which young people may explore their attitudes and feelings
  • Develop students' self awareness
  • Promote understanding, tolerance and respect for difference
  • Encourage a healthy lifestyle by considering factors that promote good health in its widest sense
  • Provide accurate information, on the basis of which students may make informed personal decisions
  • Give students experience of decision making and equipping them with the ability to weigh up options and make choices rationally and effectively
  • Educate students about the baseless nature of racism, sexism and other forms of prejudice
  • Develop and practice listening skills
  • Help students understand and manage a wider range of relationships, and to show respect for diversity and the differences between people

... In summary, to enable our students to lead confident, healthy, responsible lives as individuals and as members of society.
