Why study Music? Because music can be enjoyed by everyone: listening, performing, composing and appreciating music can happen on so many different levels that music really is accessible to everyone! Perhaps even without realising it, music is such an integral part of our everyday lives: radio, television, music at the supermarket, singing in the shower, music festivals, X Factor, elevator music – you can't escape it! And what better way to enjoy music more than understanding how it works, how it developed, how to perform it, and how to write some of your own!
What's a typical Music lesson like? Composing a piece of music to go with a film clip; performing and singing music from Classical to Jazz, Musicals to Pop; listening to music from rock to Baroque; learning about the development of music styles from around the world.
What makes for a great lesson? Active pupil learning, through a variety of activities, and a sense of pupil achievement.
What's the best thing about teaching at Leckford Place? Teaching pupils who want to learn; being in a friendly, open and supportive community; using exciting resources to learn about music in a practical way; an environment that celebrates pupil success, and supports pupil progress.
