Martin Procter

BEd (Hons) Sec QTS, University College of St Mark and St John, Plymouth (Exeter University)

Head of Physical Education

Martin oversees PE and games for all students at Leckford Place. For more information about this, please see sport and activities. Martin is also head of PE as a GCSE subject, which he talks about below:

Why study PE GCSE? Our health and our wellbeing (and that of others) affects all of us throughout our lives. Understanding these issues and learning how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle can be invaluable.

What's a typical PE GCSE lesson like? We investigate topics such as healthy and active lifestyles, personal health and wellbeing and performance-enhancing drugs. We look at body systems and how we can develop them to help ourselves improve as athletes.

What makes for a great lesson? Three ingredients: enjoyment, a willingness to learn and inspirational, engaging material.

What's the best thing about teaching at Leckford Place? Being able to work with students who are enthusiastic and always willing to learn, and to throw themselves into all aspects of school life.
