We would like to encourage parents wherever possible to consider alternatives to the motor car when considering how to transport children to and from school. There are two reasons for this - firstly that Leckford Place is located in a residential environment which will find coping with large numbers of cars very difficult; and secondly that we aim to be environmentally conscious in a number of areas of school life and this is one practical way in which we can help to reduce traffic and emissions. Consequently it would be of enormous benefit if you could, wherever possible • Encourage your children to walk to school • Encourage them to cycle (we will have covered bike sheds at school; and we would like to develop what used to be known as “cycling proficiency courses”) • Longer journeys could be undertaken either by service bus or by a dedicated bus service such as that offered by Jeff’s Coaches to the North of Oxford. See, for instance: http://webpro.touchoxford.com//webpro/live/jcoaches/ • Consider car sharing – with parental permission we will supply details of other pupils living in your area to facilitate giving lifts. • There is a new bus service called The Rufty Tufty School Bus, run by
parents for parents, which may be helpful to some of you. Do

information. There is also more information on other bus services, which may interest you. Please click here for full details. We would ask parents to show courtesy and consideration to local residents at all times. There are very limited drop off and pick up points at the front of the school and if you were to bring your car it could well be advantageous to avoid parking in the immediate vicinity of the school. School finishing times will be staggered : years 7 and
8 finish at 3:40 pm and Years 9 - 11 at 4:15 pm (apart
from Wednesdays when all students finish at 4:00 pm) to help
effect a smooth exit from the school grounds. |
