How to apply

If you decide to apply to Leckford Place, this page will tell you what to expect of the application and assessment process.

Assessment

We typically carry out assessment in small groups, in a way that is adapted to suit the age and ability of each child – and we do our best to ensure that the atmosphere is relaxed and relatively informal.

Once you have made an application to Leckford Place, here is how the process will unfold:

  1. Before you come in for assessment, we would like you and your child to fill in a short questionnaire and provide us with a copy of a recent school report.
  2. Your child will also be asked to complete a series of formal assessments to determine his/her potential and current level of attainment.

What to do next

If you would like to consider Leckford Place for your child, the first thing to do is to contact us (01865 302620) to arrange a time to come in for a preliminary visit.

Please allow at least an hour for this visit, which will be an opportunity to meet the Head, see the School and its facilities in action and explore any issues or questions you may have.

Entry points

Leckford Place has two main entry points:

  • at age 11 (into Year 7), and
  • at age 13 (into Year 9).

If places are available, we are also happy to consider applications on behalf of pupils wishing to join us at a different point – directly into Year 8 or Year 10, for instance.
