The School Day |
||
The school day commences with registration at 8:40 am although children are welcome to be dropped off at school from 8:00 am when they will be supervised either in a classroom or on the playground. Registration is not simply an opportunity for the form tutor to perform important daily administrative tasks but can also be used for important pastoral activities and as part of a school-wide programme of PSHE. A second, shorter registration takes place at the start of afternoon school. Teaching begins at 08:55 except on a Monday where there is a whole-school assembly to provide an opportunity to reaffirm our ethos and values as a community. There are three breaks during the day: at mid-morning, lunchtime and mid-afternoon, all of which are staggered to ensure plenty of space for recreation and refreshment. In addition to normal timetabled lessons, Years 7-10 will have an activity afternoon each Wednesday to enable them to pursue a range of extra curricular activities within the school day. This we regard as vital for educating the whole person and may include such activities as music, drama, sport, science club, Art club, IT club, etc. The school day finishes at 4:15 pm for all pupils, although there is a later finish on days when children are taken off-site for PE. There is also the possibility of Homework Club after school until 6 pm, Monday - Thursday. |
