Class Sizes We work in small classes of 10-15 pupils throughout the school – from Year 7 through to Year 11. Dress Pupils are not expected to wear a full uniform. A light-touch dress code is designed to ensure that pupils are dressed neatly, safely and appropriately while at school. Measures of attainment Success is measured by appropriate indicators such as GCSE results and, equally importantly, by the degree to which pupils demonstrate a sustained enthusiasm for learning and develop as confident, thoughtful and creative people with a strong sense of their place in a wider community. PE and sport These play an important part in the life of the school. Leckford Place has the use of a range of excellent facilities for sport and PE within easy striking distance of the school. In addition to team games such as: netball; football; hockey; rugby and cricket, pupils also have the opportunity to become involved in sailing; fencing; capoeira; riding ; basketball; table tennis and badminton, to name but a few. We now field teams in a range of sports and are establishing a regular fixture calendar. The school day The school day normally begins at 8.40 am for all pupils although they may arrive from 8.00 am, and ends at 3.40 pm for Years 7and 8 and at 4.15 pm for Years 9 - 11, although some activities, such as sport, may run later on certain afternoons. There is no Saturday school. After school activities After School homework club is available until 5.00 pm Monday - Thursday for Years 7- 11. Jazz Club, Sailing Club,Riding, Music and Drama are amongst activities offered after the end of the school day. Entry The school is not narrowly selective on academic grounds. We welcome children across a range of abilities, provided we feel that they will benefit fully from the school’s educational provision. The curriculum is geared to pupils who have the ability to progress to sixth form education in due course. |
