Our academic ethos
An outstanding education. That – simply enough – is what we aim to give every one of our students. But how do we go about achieving it?
Key to our approach – and our students' success – is happiness.
We want children to enjoy these crucial years of their lives. And if a child is happy, success – both inside and outside the classroom – is that much more attainable.
An approach centred on the individual
We know every individual student, here at Leckford.
Yes, many schools say this; but not all achieve it. And because we know each child, we are able to tailor our approach to their talents and abilities.
Vital to this is size – both that of the school itself (less than 200 students) and the classes in which we teach (no class is ever larger than 15 students; most are significantly smaller).
... In other words, we are small enough, fresh enough, flexible enough to provide every student with work that will genuinely stretch and challenge, alongside personal support and guidance.
When a student is stretched (but never flumoxed) and supported (but never stifled) – that is when he or she will be happiest – and most successful.
An unstuffy, exhilarating style
Learning at Leckford Place is a positive and engaging process, full of humour, variety and stimulus.
As you'll see from browsing our teacher profiles, we have an outstanding team of highly-qualified staff – each one passionate about their subject and committed to seeing their students succeed.
We are unstuffy, exhilarating, challenging, supportive. As a result, Leckford Place is not only a great place in which to learn; it's also a great place in which to teach.

A broad education
As we have said, we aim to give an outstanding education. And while our students gain excellent GCSE results, we believe there's more to life than recurrent testing.
An excellent education should energise and provoke. It should be more than a preparation; it should be an inspiration.
So it is not simply that our students leave us with good grades. It is that they also leave us with the confidence, the enthusiasm and the initiative to put those grades to good use.
