The UK education system

The diagram below shows how British education works. Click on any heading for a more detailed description.

Exams taken by all school children in the UK, aged 15-16. Usually 5-10 subjects. Most important are English, Maths and Science.

Most UK students take A levels, aged 16-18. Usually 3-5 subjects, depending on ability. We teach A levels at d'Overbroeck's Sixth Form

Fluent English required

Some UK students choose to study a Baccalaureate such as the IB, aged 16-18. Our GCSE Programme prepares you for both A level and Baccalaureate study.

If you wish to continue your studies, you may apply to a UK university. Both A levels and the IB will prepare you for this.
