Activities

The aim of the activities programme is to provide students with social, cultural and educational events that are interesting and encourage them to discover more about British culture.

Sport
On Tuesday afternoons OPAL Programme students take part in sport alongside British students from d'Overbroeck's Sixth Form College and use the excellent facilities at Oxford Brookes University. Many OPAL students represent d'Overbroeck's College in inter-school tournaments and compete in sports day with other international schools.

Music/Performance

On Thursday afternoons students take part in cultural and social activities such as preparing for the Winter pantomime, Journalism and News Day or the International Arts Festival.  Overseas students can also participate in College theatrical productions. OPAL students can also take part in the clubs and societies that the College organise for almost every evening of the week. These include activities such as debating and dancing.

Trips

We organise regular trips and activities which introduce our students to other places of interest around the UK. There are usually three day trips per term (of which two are at weekends). Destinations have included Bath, Cambridge, Stonehenge, Lincoln and the major sights of London.

We also run an educational day trip once per term and have visited places such as the National Space Centre, the Tate Modern Art Gallery in London and the London Design Museum.

In addition to these excursions, we organise a varied programme of social events such as bowling, cinema trips and ice-skating. These visits give students the opportunity to get to know their classmates and teachers in a more relaxed setting.
