Who is the course for?
The course is open to young musicians between the ages of 10 and 14 who enjoy music and singing. You don't need to be able to read music, you just need to be keen to use your voice!
The music we're performing is accessible to all, in terms of both vocal range and ability.
The Operetta is a 'choral' rather than a 'theatrical' work, and the emphasis of the course will be on developing and exploring the ways in which the voice can be used to portray dramatic events.
Who is the course taught by?
The course will be led by Ed Yeo, who teaches Music at d'Overbroeck's College.
Ed has been teaching Music at d'Overbroeck's since September 2010. He was a music scholar at Bedales School before studying music at the University of Durham. Ed has been active as a singer from a young age, and he also plays the piano and violin. He has been involved in school music outreach projects and courses, and enjoys the challenge of exploring new and exciting works...
